Tom MarghamDr Tom Margham – Arthritis Research UK Tom is a GP based in East London. During his career he has developed an interest in treating musculoskeletal conditions, completing his MSc in Sports & Exercise Medicine and working with GP, Specialist and Allied Health Professional colleagues both in his local musculoskeletal interface service and as GP Musculoskeletal Clinical Lead for Tower Hamlets. Tom believes strongly that GPs are fundamental to the effective management of musculoskeletal problems in the NHS – in particular, the long-term conditions that affect so many people. But recognises that for many GPs there is a skills gap which can result in patients not getting the care they need, when they need it. Therefore when the opportunity arose to work with Arthritis Research UK on their primary care agenda, he jumped at the chance. Over the last 2 years this role has included working with the Royal College of General Practitioners on a major overhaul of the GP training curriculum for MSK disorders, representation to external organisations such as NICE and development of innovative e-learning and clinical skills modules. Home life revolves around his son Sam, who is approaching his first birthday and keeps both Tom, and his wife Zara, very much on their toes! |
